About Course

This course explores the cellular and metabolic foundations of hair growth, combining nutritional science, immune biology, and regenerative clinical insight. You will gain a comprehensive understanding of how inflammation, iron status, micronutrient balance, hormonal signalling, and targeted therapies influence the hair follicle environment.

Designed for healthcare professionals, this programme bridges diet, functional testing, and regenerative approaches to support hair restoration from the inside out.

Estimated learning time: 2–3 hours, depending on your pace.

What Will You Learn?

  • · The immune biology of the hair follicle and the concept of immune privilege
  • · How chronic inflammation and oxidative stress contribute to follicle miniaturisation
  • · The role of iron, oxygen delivery, and mitochondrial ATP production in hair growth
  • · Why nutrient intake does not always equal cellular delivery
  • · How regenerative therapies such as PRP, exosomes, red light therapy, and mesotherapy support follicle reactivation
  • · How to combine nutrition, testing, and clinical therapies into a comprehensive hair restoration strategy

Course Content

Module 1
In this module, we examine the inflammatory and immune biology of the hair follicle, positioning it not as a passive structure but as a metabolically active, immune-sensitive mini-organ. You will explore how immune privilege is maintained during the anagen phase and why this protection is essential for sustained hair fibre production. We will investigate the mechanisms behind micro-inflammation, including cytokine signalling, NF-kB activation, oxidative stress, and perifollicular fibrosis. Importantly, this module expands the lens beyond the scalp, exploring how systemic inflammation, endothelial dysfunction, metabolic dysregulation, and gut permeability influence the follicle microenvironment. By the end of this module, you will understand how inflammatory load both local and systemic can gradually shift follicles toward miniaturisation and shedding.

MODULE 2
This module explores the energetic foundation of hair growth. Hair matrix keratinocytes are among the most rapidly dividing cells in the body, requiring sustained ATP production. We examine how mitochondrial respiration depends on oxygen availability and iron-dependent enzymes. You will analyse ferritin versus haemoglobin, the concept of functional iron deficiency, hepcidin regulation, and inflammatory iron restriction. This module reframes iron not simply as a haematological marker, but as a metabolic determinant of follicle performance.

MODULE 3
In this module, we move from foundational biology to advanced clinical application. You will explore how regenerative therapies restore signalling pathways, improve circulation, enhance mitochondrial activity, and reactivate dormant follicles. We analyse PRP, exosome therapy, carboxytherapy, red light therapy, mesotherapy, scalp barrier optimisation, hormonal regulation, and systemic nutrient delivery. This module emphasises sequencing combining internal optimisation with targeted scalp-based interventions.
